Booking, Deposit & Cancellation Policy
Please read these terms before paying a booking deposit.
Last updated: 4 August 2026
This policy applies to tattoo appointments, consultations and related custom design work booked with Unicorn Tattoo Art Collective UK (“the studio”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By paying a booking deposit, you confirm that you have read and accepted this policy.
1. Booking confirmation
- An enquiry, consultation or proposed date does not by itself confirm an appointment.
- Your appointment is confirmed only after the studio has agreed the date and received the requested deposit.
- Deposit amounts may vary depending on the estimated appointment length, design work and nature of the project.
- The deposit will normally be deducted from the final price of the tattoo at the completed appointment.
2. What the deposit covers
The deposit is an advance payment connected with the services required for your booking. Depending on the project, this may include:
- Reserving appointment time that is no longer offered to another client.
- Booking administration and communication.
- Reviewing your ideas, reference images and existing tattoos.
- Research, preparation, drawing and custom design work.
- Consultation time and preparation of equipment or materials.
3. Client cancellations
- If you cancel, do not attend, or decide not to proceed after work has begun or appointment time has been reserved, the deposit will normally not be refunded.
- Any amount retained will reflect the work already completed and/or the studio's genuine loss resulting directly from the cancellation. It is not intended as a penalty.
- Where appropriate, we may offer a transfer, studio credit or partial refund at our discretion after considering the work completed, notice provided and whether the appointment time could reasonably be filled.
4. Rescheduling an appointment
- Please provide at least 7 full days' notice if you need to move your appointment.
- With sufficient notice, a deposit may normally be transferred once to a new date agreed with the studio.
- Further changes, or changes requested with less than 7 days' notice, may require a new deposit where the studio cannot reasonably fill the reserved time or has incurred additional work.
- Genuine emergencies will be considered individually. Please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
5. Late arrival and non-attendance
- Please arrive at the agreed time. If you expect to be late, contact the studio immediately.
- Significant lateness may shorten the available tattoo time or require the appointment to be rearranged.
- If an appointment cannot proceed because of lateness or non-attendance, the deposit may be retained to cover the reserved time and work already completed.
6. Custom designs and reference images
- Reference images are used to understand your preferred subject, composition and style. Unless specifically agreed otherwise, they are not instructions to reproduce another artist's tattoo exactly.
- Custom designs are created for the agreed tattoo project, taking account of placement, size, skin, body flow, technical suitability and the artist's professional judgement.
- Designs are normally provided or discussed within the timeframe confirmed in writing. Unless a different timeframe has been specifically agreed, there is no automatic entitlement to receive a completed design a set number of days before the appointment.
- Reasonable adjustments can be discussed. Substantial changes to the subject, style, placement, size or overall composition may require additional design time, a new appointment date and/or a further deposit.
- Designs and drawings remain the intellectual property of the artist and must not be copied, tattooed by another artist, published, sold or otherwise used without permission.
7. Cover-ups and reworks
- Cover-ups and reworks are affected by the size, colour, density, age, scarring and placement of the existing tattoo.
- A successful cover-up may need to be larger, darker or differently composed than the client's initial idea.
- The artist will explain what is realistically achievable, but no specific result can be guaranteed before the existing tattoo and skin have been properly assessed.
- If the client changes between a rework and a full cover-up, or requests a substantially different direction, redesigning and rescheduling may be necessary.
8. Fitness, safety and identification
- You must be at least 18 years old and provide valid photographic identification if requested.
- We will not tattoo anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- You must disclose relevant health conditions, medication, allergies, pregnancy, skin conditions or other information that may affect whether the tattoo can safely proceed.
- If an appointment cannot proceed safely because relevant information was withheld or preparation instructions were not followed, the deposit may be retained where the studio has incurred work or lost appointment time.
9. Cancellation by the studio
If the studio or artist has to cancel the appointment and cannot provide the agreed service, you may choose to transfer the full deposit to another suitable date or receive a refund of the amount paid.
This does not apply where the appointment cannot proceed because of the client's lateness, conduct, health, intoxication, failure to provide valid identification or another safety-related reason within the client's control.
10. Right to refuse or stop a service
The studio may refuse, postpone or stop a service where it would be unsafe, unlawful, technically unsuitable, outside the artist's agreed remit, or where a client behaves abusively, threateningly or inappropriately.
Any decision about the deposit will take account of the circumstances, work already completed and any genuine loss incurred.
11. Distance bookings and statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits your statutory consumer rights. Where a booking is made online, by telephone, email or message, any applicable cancellation rights will operate in accordance with UK consumer law.
If you ask us to begin consultation, preparation or custom design work during a statutory cancellation period, you may be responsible for the reasonable value of work supplied before cancellation where permitted by law.
12. Questions and contact
If you are unsure about any part of this policy, please ask before paying your deposit.
